Brent received his Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) degree in Labour and Workplace Studies from the University of Manitoba in 1999, and his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Manitoba in 2004. During university, he was on the Dean’s Honour List, was appointed a Desautels Credit Management Fellow, and was co-editor of the Asper Review of International Business and Trade Law. He was also awarded a Canadian Credit Management Scholarship, and won the R.R. Goodwin Q.C. Memorial Award. Brent began his practice of law in 2005, and joined Assiniboia Law Group in 2014. He took over as principal lawyer of the firm in 2019 after the retirement of John Barber.
He has represented hundreds of clients in the areas of Family Law, Wills and Estates, Real Estate and Corporate/Commercial law, among others. Brent has served as a Board Member of the Manitoba Bar Association, the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada, and Trails Manitoba. In 2022 he will be the Chair of the Small, Solo and General Practice subsection of the Manitoba Bar Association for a 2 year term.
PJ then articled and practiced with
his Debtors and Creditors Law School Professor for 8 years in their Morden and
Winkler offices before returning to his childhood home of Winnipeg.
PJ is now happy to
join Assiniboia Law Group bringing his experience and skills in the areas of Real
Estate, Wills and Estates, and Commercial Law with him, along with his previous
experience in the areas of accounting, retail and restaurant operations,
management and as a former corporate trainer.
PJ no longer
engages in sky-diving and waterski-ing, having been informed he is now
interested in cooking, gardening, reading and exploring the world of
technology. PJ has also recently discovered the Joy of Barbequing and is more
than happy to trade his latest marinade recipe with other weekend chefs.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Studies from the
University of Manitoba in 2018. She then went on to complete her Juris Doctor at
the University of Manitoba’s Robson Hall Faculty of Law, graduating in 2021. While
in law school, she was the co-editor of the Asper Review of International Business
and Trade Law, participated in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court
Competition, and was a student clerk at the Court of Queen’s Bench. Victoria was
the recipient of the Manitoba Law School Foundation Entrance Scholarship, the
Canadian Credit Management Fund Scholarship and the Jane Evans, Q.C. Prize in
Property, Trusts & Successions. In her second year Victoria was a Dean’s List
Student and was awarded a Pitblado Scholarship. Victoria joined the Assiniboia Law
Group as an articling student-at-law in July 2021 and will stay on as an Associate
following her Call to the Bar in June 2022.
